Albert C. Silveri

Albert C. Silveri Jr. 76, of Wyomissing, PA passed away of natural causes on Monday, July 1st at the Mifflin Center in Shillington, PA; surrounded by his loving family. Al was born in Mahanoy City, PA to the late Albert Silveri, Sr., and Assunta (Buzzelli) and was the devoted husband to his wife Marianne (Chrusch) Silveri for over 57 years.

He was a proud graduate of Mahanoy Area High School (Class of '66); a graduate of Bloomsburg University; and earned his Master's of Education degree from Kutztown University. He completed additional post-graduate studies at: The Pennsylvania State University, Lehigh University, and the University of Notre Dame.

Al touched the lives of countless youth over the years, having been a social studies teacher at Wyomissing, Conrad Weiser, and Muncy High Schools. Anyone who knew him recognized that his greatest passion was for sports, in particular the sport of football. After retiring from teaching Al came full circle, spending another two decades as an assistant football coach, including the most recent 2023 season at Wyomissing High School; where he first began his career back in the fall of 1970.

In that 50+ year span, in addition to coaching at Wyomissing; Al served as the head football coach at both Conrad Weiser and Muncy High Schools. Just a few of Coach Silveri's more notable memberships and accolades include: serving as past-president of the Berks County Football Association; being a member of the Pennsylvania State, and the American Football Coaches Associations; being elected as a charter member and inductee to the Berks County Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2003; and being inducted into the Wyomissing Area Football Hall of Fame in 2021.

In addition to his illustrious football coaching career, Al spent several decades coaching wrestling and track & field and was honored with an induction into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame (Berks Chapter) in 2007; and inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2018.

When not coaching, Al could often be found attending mass or assisting with events at Sacred Heart Parish; keeping score at Wyomissing High School baseball games; and most recently, enjoying leisure time and good conversation seated in his favorite spot at the Dosie Dough coffee shop in Wyomissing.

Al is survived by his wife of 57 years; one son, Albert Silveri III; one daughter, Dr. Karen Ann (Silveri) Cameron (Deceased Jeffery Cameron); and two granddaughters, Colleen Cameron; and Victoria (Cameron) Griffith and her husband Richard; a brother-in-law, Charles "Chick" Trusky; a sister-in-law, Janet Chrusch; a multitude of nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces & nephews.
