Albert W. Russo, 69, of Riverview Park, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family on March 29, 2007 in his residence, after a brief but valiant battle with his illness.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late John and Lucia (Verrichio) Russo.
Albert was an elevator mechanic for Otis Elevator, Co., for 40 years until his retirement in 2000. He was also the business agent for local 84, the elevator contructor's union.
He served on the lodge board as a counselor for the Victor Emmanuel Beneficial Society for over 20 years. He was also the kitchen manager at Victor Emmanuel for many years, last working in January.
He was an Air Force veteran stationed as a weatherman on Ascension Island.
Albert will always be remembered as a man with a generous heart and open arms.
Albert is survived by one daughter, Marsha L. (Russo) wife of James F. Sieck, of Riverview Park; and two sisters, Stella (Russo) Vanover, and Nancy (Russo) Beck, both of Reading. There are also two grandchildren, Brianna Sieck and Derek Sieck; and several loving nieces and nephews; and several great nephews and a great niece.
He is predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Angelo Franco, and one sister, Carmella (Russo) Fitterling.
Family and friends are invited to gather Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
