Albert P. Hetzel

Albert Paul Hetzel, 78, of Kenhorst Borough and formerly of West Whiteland Township, Chester County, died August 29, 2007 at 8:35 pm in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he was admitted earlier.

He was married 56 years on January 20, 1951 to Mary C. (Pagano) Hetzel of Kenhorst.

Born June 20, 1929 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Albert John and Virginia Teresa (Schwakoff) Hetzel.

He was a 1947 graduate of North Catholic High School, Philadelphia and attended Drexel University.

Albert was a member of St. John the Baptist de La Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington.

He was also a member of St. Phillips and James Roman Catholic Church, Exton, where he had served as a lector, extraordinary minister and was a past Bingo Captain.

Albert was an Army Veteran.

He was employed for over 30 years as a test engineer and then a supervisor with Borroughs, now Unisys, Downingtown.

Albert was later employed two years with Commodore, West Chester until his retirement.

He is also survived by six children, Albert S. Hetzel of Richmond, Virginia; Robert J. husband of Donna M. (Ferrante) Hetzel of Downingtown, Chester Co.; Lawrence M. husband of Donna P. (Francis) Hetzel of Fallston, Maryland; Stephen F. husband of Noreen M. (Bayer) Hetzel of Cumru Twp.; Jean C. (Hetzel) wife of James A. Bryan of Coatsville, Chester Co. and Kathy G. (Hetzel) wife of Samuel W. Hume of Pughtown, Chester Co.

Other survivors include a daughter-in-law, Denise Hetzel of West Chester and two siblings; Robert L. husband of Nancy D. (Simister) Hetzel of Warminster, Bucks Co. and Sister Marie Albert of Philadelphia.

There are also 19 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by three children, Mary V. Hetzel, who died April 28, 1962; Louise Hetzel, who died November 1966 and Kenneth R. Hetzel, who died March 4, 1989.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:30 am in St. John the Baptist de La Salle R.C. Church, 420 Holland Street, Shillington. A viewing will be held Saturday 9:30 - 11:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Burial will be private in Beverly National Cemetery, New Jersey.
