Albert F. "Spike" Hendricks, 86, of Laureldale, passed away July 22, 2014, in St. Joseph Medical Center, where he was a patient for two days.

His wife, Anna May (Schultz) Hendricks, died April 22, 2009.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Albert A. and Florence (Hanson) Hendricks.

He was a life-long member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church.

Albert was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the 2101st Area Service Unit, and earned the WWII Victory Medal.

After attending Reading High School, he was employed by Reading Tube and Reading Industries and what is now Cambridge-Lee Industries, retiring in 1989. During the 1950's he was the founder, owner, and operator of Spike's Dixie Cup, located on the 5th Street Highway in Muhlenberg Township.

Albert was a member of the Pagoda City Beamers and he received the Golden Fox Award from the Jim Beam International Division. He was also a long standing member of the Shoemakersville Lions Club as well as the Muhlenberg Lions Club. He was an avid collector of "unique items".

He also enjoyed traveling across the country with his family and caravanning with the J. G. Travelers' Club.

Albert is survived by two daughters, Debra L. Yoder, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Dale-Ann H. Farina, wife of Ernest J. Farina, Muhlenberg Township, three grandsons, Christopher M. , husband of Adele Clay, Farmington, Connecticut, Kyle A. Farina, Mechanicsburg and Tyler J. Farina, Muhlenberg Township and three great-grandchildren, Linnea, Chase, and Emory Clay.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Joan Stoudt and Charlotte Shade.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Daniel Kravatz on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3121 Kutztown Rd., Hyde Park, Reading, PA 19605. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the church. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made in Albert's memory to St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation, c/o Daniel Gallagher, P.O. Box 316, Reading, PA 19603-0316. Edward J.
