Albert Bonetti, Sr., 77, of Muhlenberg Township, died June 6, 2009 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
He was the husband of Dorothy Margaret (Price) Bonetti, whom he married July 28, 1956.
Born December 5, 1931 in Reading, he was a son of the late Nicholas and Josephine (Giacintucci) Bonetti.
Albert was employed as a grinder, and later as a stocker, by Carpenter Steel for 31 years, retiring in 1987. After retirement he was a chauffeur for Mr. Ferdinan Thun, who resided at the Highlands at Wyomissing. He was also a shuttle bus driver at the Highlands at Wyomissing.
He was a member of St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
Albert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he earned a Purple Heart Medal along with several other medals. He was recently honored at the Muhlenberg High School by State Representative Dante Santoni, Jr., for serving in the Korean War.
He was a past member of Flying Hills Fitness Center, where he enjoyed spending time.
Albert enjoyed gardening and most of all spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are four children: Valerie J. (Marburger), wife of Jack Zellers of Alsace Township; Michael J., husband of Sharon M. (Toms) Marburger of Willow Springs, NC; Christine A. (Marburger), wife of David K. Forrer of Mohnton; and Albert Bonetti, Jr., of Muhlenberg Township.
In addition, he is survived by a sister Nancy (Bonetti) Lombardo of Shillington.
There are nine grandchildren: Brian, Anthony, Steven, Heather, Kevin, Danny, Matthew, Stephanie and Angela; and five great-grandchildren: Austin, Brayden, Sienna, Ryan and Nathan.
Albert was predeceased by a brother, William Bonetti.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret's R.C. Church, 925 Centre Avenue, Reading. Viewings will be held Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 9-9:30 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
