Alan K. Raffauf

Alan Knox Raffauf, 80, of 2140 Reading Avenue, West Wyomissing, died July 21st at 12:30 pm in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center where he had been since July 2nd.

He was the widower of Martha Frances (Taylor) Raffauf, who died June 24, 1991.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Charles and Helen (Sanford) Raffauf.

He was a 1942 graduate of Shillington High School.

Raffauf was member of West Lawn United Methodist Church, where he was a youth Sunday School teacher for 56 years, last teaching in June.

He served on the Wilson School Board from 1964-1984, where he was a past President and Treasurer and also authored a book on the History of Wilson School District.

Raffauf worked for 41 years at Gilbert Associates, last working as a drafting supervisor before retiring in 1987.

He was an Army Veteran of WWII.

Raffauf was a former PTA President, member of the Playground Association (West Wyomissing) and a classroom volunteer at West Wyomissing Elementary School.

He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Lynne Raffauf of Philadelphia and Helen Rose (Raffauf) Rothenberger of Sinking Spring.

Other survivors include two sons, Gregory Alan Raffauf of Wilmington, Del., and Rev. Jeffrey Alan Raffauf of Sinking Spring.

Raffauf if also survived by a brother, Richard Raffauf of Gouglersville, seven grandchildren and five great granddaughters.

Services will be Saturday at 10:00 am in West Lawn United Methodist Church. Rev. Sherry L. Lantz officiating. Viewings Friday evening 6:30 - 8:00 pm in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading and Saturday 9:30 am until time of service in the Church. Burial will be in Wyomissing Cemetery, Gouglersville.
