Alan P. Chmelewski

Alan P. Chmelewski, 70, passed away on Saturday, September 3rd, 2022. He was the loving husband of Cynthia/Cindy (Stout) Chmelewski, with whom he shared 48 years.

Born in Stamford, CT, he was a son of the late Alexander and Eleanor (Pietruszka) Chmelewski. Alan graduated from Methacton High School in 1969 before going on to complete a Bachelor's in Mathematics at Lafayette College (Class of 1973). Later in life, he returned to school to complete a Masters in the Management of Technology at Lehigh University (Class of 1996). He worked for a number of manufacturing companies before launching his own business consultancy firm, Alan Chmelewski Consulting, in 2006.

Alan enjoyed spending hours on his deck, admiring the native stone flower beds he helped create and marveling at the variety of wildlife that migrated through his property at various times of the year  - red tail hawks, owls, red fox, pileated woodpeckers, golden eagles, blue heron and flying squirrels. He relished the opportunity to walk in the woods, especially on full-moon nights when a fine layer of snow covered the ground.

Alan was a fan of Prog-Rock, Philly sports teams, and science fiction, a voracious reader and an impassioned trainer of his gold retrievers. He served as president of APICS and the Waterland Retriever Club.

His memory will be cherished by his wife, Cindy; his son, Michael A. Chmelewski; and brothers: Clifford, Steven and Alexander "Chip" Chmelewski. Â

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation with the family from 1 pm to 3 pm on Friday, October 7, 2022 at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611.

A memorial fund in Alan's name has been created to support reading and music programs in Oley Valley schools. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Oley Valley Community Education Foundation (OVCEF), P.O. Box 331, Oley, PA 19547, with the memo indicating "Alan Chmelewski Memorial Fund".
