Adolph W. "Skip" Hoffman, 86, passed away April 22, 2015 in the Delmar Nursing Home, Delaware.
He was the husband of Martha (Russell) Hoffman.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Ferdinand and Vera (Mangst) Mayer.
Skip was a graduate of West Reading High School.
He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard as a lighthouse keeper.
Skip was a member of Pottstown Community Church.
Skip was a Ham Radio Operator at home. He was also employed as a ski instructor for Bear Creek Mountain Resort. Skip was owner and operator of a charter boat called "Fat Sam". He also was a pilot for Kutztown Airport, Butter Valley Golf Port, captain of the Georgetown Delaware Air Patrol, and Corporate Pilot for Reading Aviation Service.
Skip was a member of the Post 24 American Legion in Delaware and also was a lighthouse keeper.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four step-children: Barbara A., wife of Ben Coco, Wolmelsdorf; Kathleen, wife of Jay Weckerle, Leesport; Debby Kurtz, California; Jeff, husband of Geralyn Peiffer, Birdsboro. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.
Skip was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Hoffman and his brother, Walter F. Mayer.
Services will be Monday, April 27, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611. Friends and family may call Monday from 10 to 12 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
