Adelaide K. Schach

Adelaide Katherine (Levan) Schach, 88, formerly of Bernville died October 18, 2011 in her son's residence.

She was married June 9, 1943 to John Howard Schach Sr., who died September 2, 2008.

Born in Reading, PA on October 26, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Alvin D. and Katherine K. (Kessler) Levan.

She was a 1940 graduate of Reading High School and attended Ursinus College, Collegeville.

Adelaide was an owner, vice-president and secretary of John H. Schach Rugs and Carpets, Inc., West Reading for 28 years, retiring in 1986.

She was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church.

Adelaide was also a former Sunday School teacher and treasurer at Pennside Presbyterian Church, Reading and was also a former Sunday School teacher at Trinity Lutheran Church, Reading.

She was survived by her son, John H., Jr., husband of Jessica R. (Gagliardi) Schach of Exeter Township.

Other survivors include two grandchildren: Nicole M. (Schach), wife of Paul W. Bleiler of Spring Township and Jonathan A., husband of Sally C. (Clement) Schach of Harrisburg.

There are also three great grandchildren surviving: Caitlyn N. Bleiler, Madisyn J. Bleiler and Sylvia L. Schach.

She was expecting the birth of her fourth great grandchild.

Adelaide was predeceased by two siblings: Laura (Levan) Hoffmaster and George Levan.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 11:00 am in Charles Evans Cemetery.
