Adelaide Mary (Kreisher) Parks, 91, a resident of Phoebe Berks, formerly of Wyomissing, joined her loving husband Gerald in Heaven on April 9, 2017. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Reading Hospital.
Adelaide, "Addie" to her friends and family, was born on September 30, 1925 in Reading, PA. She is predeceased by her parents Walter S. and Alberta M. (Leitham) Kreisher of Reading, and her late husband Gerald E. Parks of Reading.
Addie was a 1943 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Soon after graduation she married Gerry, her high school sweetheart. After their wedding they moved to Savannah, GA while Gerry was in the U.S. Air Force training school. They were married for 53 years before Gerry was invited to play golf with Saint Peter in 1998.
Addie took pride in her home and her life was dedicated to her family. In retirement, she and Gerry spent winters in Winter Haven, FL where she learned to play golf which she continued to play until several years ago. She and Gerry loved to travel throughout their marriage. In her 80's she traveled to Europe with her sister Dolores. They went to Paris, hiked the Swiss Alps, and cruised the Mediterranean. Her favorite pastimes were reading, jigsaw puzzles and playing Yahtzee. She was a faithful member of St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church.
Addie is survived by her four children, Linda Kline and husband, Carter of Reading, Scott Parks and wife, Pat of Wyomissing, Meribeth Firely and husband, Bob of Sinking Spring, and Lorie Lynch and husband, Shawn of St. Davids, PA; sister Dolores Horrigan, Reading, PA, brother Barry Kreisher, Reading, PA; nine grandchildren, Ryan and wife Anne, Justin, Matthew, Adam and wife Allie, Kevin, Christopher, Lauren, Jared and Maeve; and two great grandchildren, Henry and Jack.
Addie became a role model to many in her family. Her kindness to all; her incredible strength, determination, energy, and her faith were remarkable. Her 91 years of experiences and stories of life were happily shared with her children and their families. Addie will be greatly missed, but her family will take comfort in knowing that she is having Happy Hour and sharing laughs with Gerry and her dear friends and family in Heaven.
