Adam "Red", "Poppy" Franklin Krantz, 89, died Saturday, May 16, 2009, in the Reading Hospital. He was the loving husband of Jean L. (Bittle) Krantz whom he was married to for 62 years.
Born on February 18, 1920, in Brandonville, Schuylkill County, he was the son of the late William Casper and Catherine Rebecca (Lindenmuth) Krantz.
He was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church.
A veteran in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, Sinking Spring Post.
Adam worked on the family farm in Brandonville for many years. He also worked for Beryllium, and Firestone Tire Company in Pottstown for many years. He retired after 17 years of service with the Joint Municipal Authority of Wyomissing Valley.
He enjoyed bowling and was an avid train lover.
Survivors include a son, Dennis L. Krantz of Lakeville, PA; three daughters, Linda M. (Krantz) wife of Victor Brussellis of Spring Township; Bonnie L. (Krantz) wife of Warren V. Miller, Jr. of Laureldale; and Pattie J. (Krantz) wife of Danny Diezel of Muhlenberg Township.
Adam is also survived by a sister Ethel E. (Krantz) widow of Donald Campbell of Hyde Park.
He is predeceased by Edna Balant, Albert Krantz, Luther Krantz, and Ruth Spiece.
There are nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A Viewings will be on Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
