Abigail Margaret "Abbie" (High) Rissmiller, 92, formerly of Laureldale, died April 9, 2014 in Phoebe Berks Village, Wernersville.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Russell H. Spohn who died April 25, 1980 and her second husband, Paul H. Rissmiller, who died June 30, 2000.
Born July 25, 1921 in Leesport, she was a daughter of the late Charles S. and Sally Mae (Ettinger) High.
Abbie was a 1939 graduate of Ontelaunee Vocational High School.
She was employed as a cashier and hostess with Plaza Dairy Land, Muhlenberg Township for 17 years.
Abbie was a member of Calvary Reformed United Church of Christ, Reading.
She was very proud of both of her grandsons, and immensely enjoyed her time with her great grandson.
A resident at Phoebe Berks Village for many years, Abbie tirelessly worked as a volunteer. Her energy and smile will be sadly missed by the residents and staff.
Abbie enjoyed traveling and bus trips to Atlantic City.
Surviving are her two grandsons: Dr. Steven Paul, husband of Amy L. Katzenmoyer of Sinking Spring and Daniel E. Katzenmoyer of Northampton.
There is also her beloved great grandson, Eric Douglas Katzenmoyer of Sinking Spring.
Also surviving is her brother, Bruce S. High of Temple.
Abbie was predeceased by her brothers Harold L. High and Elwood High.
Services will be Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 10 a.m. in Phoebe Berks Village Chapel, 1 Reading Drive, Wernersville, with the Rev. Dr. Stephen Ohnsman officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will be in Alsace Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
